Luxury Cards are highly proficient in the application of foil stamping. This can impart a luxurious, yet professional finish to your business cards, presentation folders, stationery and postcards.

The Foil Stamping Procedure

Foil stamping is a special printing process that uses metal dies, heat, pressure and foil film. The foil is supplied in rolls and is available in a wide range of colors and finishes. Although metallic foil is most popular, it is also available in solid colors that have both glossy and matte finishes.

The process involves the application of foil to paper by a heated die that is then stamped onto the surface. Luxury Cards can apply up to 16 colors in a design, but then each color must be applied separately. This involves multiple press runs to create the final design. Foil stamping can be combined with embossing to create a more striking 3D effect.

Important Considerations

Our foil stamping process produces excellent results when applied to artwork containing fine lines and small text. However, there is a limit to the intricacy of the artwork that can be replicated and extremely intricate detail may be lost.

As a general rule you should avoid using fine lines and small typefaces in your artwork. Also ensure that line spacing in the design is not too narrow.


Our foil stamping cost is for a maximum surface area of 3 square inches. Larger sizes will incur extra costs due to the larger dies and extra foil required.
