Debossed Business Cards

Want to stand out from the crowd? Luxury Cards will print debossed business cards to grab your customer’s attention!

Apart from business cards, we specialize in debossing invitations and other items of stationery. This process can impart elegance to your business stationery which leaves a lasting impression on your customers. It indicates that you value quality and are likely to deliver superior service.

How Does Debossing Work?

The debossing process is the exact opposite of embossing. Whereas an embossed image is raised above the surface of the paper, a debossed image is recessed or imprinted into the surface.

For this process, a die and counter die are used. The paper or card is fed between the two dies. When pressure is applied to the stationery, the paper is forced down to form the debossed image in the surface.

Considerations When Designing Debossed Images

Debossing is one of the last stages of the printing production process. It is done as a separate stage after the business card has been printed, laminated and trimmed. Unlike embossing, a debossed image will not show through the back of the card or stationery item.

Debossing is done as a dedicated press run. It requires precision to align the deboss with the graphic and a tolerance of 1/64 inch is standard for this procedure. A misalignment, called shifting, will normally only be evident on the first few cards before the alignment is corrected.

Shifting can be much more noticeable in images or text with fine detail. For this reason, we do not recommend debossing of fine lines or small text. Alternatively, you can consider blind debossing, where no ink is used. This will eliminate any risk of shifting.

Luxury Cards’ debossing cost starts at $65, with no set-up fees!

We include the cost of setting up the debossing dies in our initial charge. The dies are unique to you and will be kept for the next press run. The cost of debossing on subsequent printing orders will consequently be less.

Our cost includes a maximum surface area of 3 square inches. An extra cost will be charged for larger sizes that require bigger dies.
